Our vision is Inclusive and sustainable development in India built on the conservation and wise-use of marine and coastal biodiversity through local, regional and national actions and collaboration.
Our vision is anchored to objectives that enable its realization, including:
Research, pilot and propagate, replicable and scalable models for inclusive coastal and marine biodiversity conservation in partnership and engagement with all stakeholders.
Contribute to a common platform that enables sharing of knowledge, experiences and other resources in a collaborative manner.
Enhance and spread the scientific knowledge base of coastal and marine ecosystems to all stakeholders through field research, experimentation, collaborations, creating a network of virtual centres and leveraging synergies with other centres.
Promote and propagate community participation in marine and coastal biodiversity conservation, through communication, education, participation and public awareness (CEPA), publication, nature interpretation and training of students, communities, researchers and other stakeholders in various aspects of coastal and marine biodiversity conservation.
Increase the resilience and transformative capacities of local communities and biodiversity to climate change, through marine and coastal ecosystem-based adaptation measures including mangrove and seagrass restoration.
Demonstrate ocean-based solutions to enhanced carbon sequestration and capture for strengthened climate mitigation.
Provide knowledge, approaches, and training that lead to the responsible use of coastal and marine resources, for development and livelihoods, ensuring biodiversity conservation in the true spirit of sustainability.
Advocate for responsible marine and coastal development, sustainable conservation and positively influence policy formulation and implementation at national and global levels.
Focus on young people to get them interested and involved in the conservation of their coastal and marine natural heritage.
